June and a new section to the site

Overseas site

Hello June, hello an internship in New York City for R/GA and hello Mercury Studios Overseas. In a month and a bit ill be travelling to Australia for a semester studying abroad. For this occasion I’ve built a mini-site (Mercury Studios Overseas) which includes a brand new blog for a written description and as if that wasn’t enough a gallery area for pictorial descriptions. This follows a request from my department at my university, but also an urge from me—more on this on the overseas blog. Right now the only link to it is through this news entry and the small banner on the front page but come July it will feature in the navigation links—at least till the end of the year. Sorry no new game this month, even though I was kind of determined to do a game a month. Its half built and just needs some time spent on finishing it (which won’t be happening anytime soon, hopefully before I leave). New feature of the month, the third part(step 3.) of ‘there she is’, check it out.

A May Update

Junk Box Launches

So I managed to finish my Pico Day entry in what I would liken to a mix between a fixed shooter and a side stroller. I submitted it to Newgrounds and it did pretty well, 3.55 at last check (though no money…not that I thought it would). Now it’s up on this site in the interactive section. I’ve also added another game I did earlier in the year, a text-adventure game, Illogical. That’s about all the developments for this update, ill have probably 2 more games then I’m leaving for Australia, so don’t expect anything new during the second half of the year. I will be doing a blog/updating my bloHG, so that’s one thing to keep and eye on. Here’s to the end of sophomore semester!.

Junk Box Launches

Junk Box Launches

I spoke about it 6 days ago, and after a creative 2 hours put together the ground work for Junk Box. Since the conception of mercury cartoons I’ve had pieces of flash that were never really suitable for their own page. This interactive feature lets me include these items in one easily navigational page that loads each flash into the main flash player. Junk Box includes land lubbers 3 (without sound), a French project meuh-meuh about cows, a car crash animation, a flash based on a song from ‘song to wear pants to’, and my very first flash animation (car trouble). Go check out Junk Box!

Hello March, Hello new content

hello march

So I’ve been plodding along with bloHG, its keeping me entertained, and I’m keeping it entertained. However, I am done with the post on two websites thing, its one hell of a lot easier to just update the blogger account. On the home page you’ll notice the new design for the navigation, including a bloHG link (This is just on the main page right now, but expect to see it rolled out to all web-pages in the coming days (I mean weeks)). This also means that the main page has been reworked at the bottom with a list of links to recent bloHGs. Other new things coming (or already here), I’ve gone and put up a beta of the new Demonata Quizzes, the first book I did the questions for was Slawter, so it holds the place for first produced. Ill also be posting a game I created in class, Illogical; it’s a text-based adventure game where you look to save the world from Dr. Diabolical. Finally I’ve been thinking a lot about a Junk Box, somewhere to put the little things I do (animations/codes), and I think I’ve figured out how to do it, so look for that soon. That’s it, now go and check out Slawter and bloHG.

Site Updates

First off, its presidential primary time, yes its super Tuesday! Bit of a one off site look for the next week, remember to go out and vote for who you want to potentially become president, because god knows if you mess it up again the country will have some major problems. Check out my bloHG on the primaries 'Change'. In other site news I’ve added some stuff to my portfolio, a website redesign built last semester. In interactive there’s a photo and video viewer from the time I went to a Torquay united game. On the front page I’ve edited the flash banner to include some newer things. Finally check out the recent favorite, it’s Fancy Pants 2. I seriously haven’t stopped playing this game. There are some great cameos in it too from some of my favorite artists (Luis Castanon, Adam Phillips, and Tommy LM to name a few).

bloHG and plans for the future

bloHG

Introducing bloHG (see what I did there, if you didnt take chemistry, or look at a periodic table). I’ve been thinking about this feature for a while but just didn’t have a name for it or a direction for it. Now since the beginning of mercury studios and news posts (in fact the 2nd post) I’ve been doing these blog type posts, my thoughts, opinions, reviews etc. stuff that usually goes into blogs and its always been mixed in with the site news with no distinction between site news and the blog-type posts. From now on the blog type posts will be distinguished as bloHG posts, and site news will appear as before. bloHG also has its on blogger account:
http://mercury-studios.blogspot.com/

bloHG In other plans I hope to add some more stuff to the site, like in my last news post I mention Demonata quizzes, well the structure is setup, I just have to write some questions. I also plan to add some of the portfolio things that should be added, a collaborative website, a photo and video scroller, and possibly mercury studios version 3. Then finally ill be adding a piece to my site which has yet to be named which has a load of unfinished or unpublished movies and interactive projects including but not limited to:
Land lubbers 3 (without sound).
Land lubbers the game (pretty much finished)
Les vache dons le pres (half finished French animation)
Sea Anemone (half finished random music animation)

I’ve got a lot of plans on my plate for 2008 (didn’t mean to rhyme…), so Happy New Year. Enjoy it. (Oh yea, the sites back to its rightful color).
